Performer Info

The Temper Trap: The Temper Trap is an up-and-coming indie band from Melbourne that has been heating up the airwaves in Australia and UK. With just one EP and one LP out, The Temper Trap already has two ARIAs, an LP that has gone platinum in Australia and Gold in the UK, and a single that's gone platinum twice in Australia and gold in the US. The group has sold-out tour dates in Europe as well as brought in large crowd to their festival concert dates. With so much success in so little time, fans are expecting great things from The Temper Trap's upcoming album, which has been rumored to release in late 2011. While there are no more concert dates in 2011, it can only build the anticipation for The Temper Trap's follow-up album.

The origins of The Temper Trap began when Dougy Mandagi moved to Australia. Born in Indonesia, his father moved him around as a child before settling in Melbourne. When Dougy arrived, he began working odd jobs and busking with his guitar, which is where he first met thirteen year-old Jonathon Aherne. Dougy soon formed a friendship with co-worker and drummer Toby Dundas and the duo began jamming together. After a year of unsuccessfully searching for a second guitarist, the band was introduced to Toby's friend Lorenzo Sillitto, thus rounding out the lineup for The Temper Trap.

The group released their debut self-titled EP in 2006, and The Temper Trap's popularity began to spread across Australia. However, before they began tplaying tour dates, they brought on Dougy and Toby's co-worker and multi-instrumentalist, New Zealander Joseph Greer, to play during live performances. The Temper Trap gained international recognition in 2008 after playing a concert date at Musexpo in London, and in 2009 when they played a tour date at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. Also in 2009, the group's single "Sweet Disposition" appeared in the movie 500 Days of Summer; causing thousands of watchers to rush to their computers and fill online forums with questions about the song's origins. With a fair amount of buzz already created in 2009, the band released their first LP, Conditions. The album received extremely positive reviews in the UK and Australia, especially when it came to the diversity and talent of Dougy's vocals.

A few months after the album's release, The Temper Trap moved to London to promote themselves and perform concert dates, as their album sold better in the UK than anywhere else besides Australia. The band has spent their time playing tour dates in almost every major country on almost every continent, as well as spending time at European music festivals. With the 2011 concert dates in promotion of their album finally over, The Temper Trap has returned to the studio to work on their follow-up album. Considering the success of their debut album, and assuming their musical style evolves even more, there should be plenty of future tour dates for The Temper Trap.
