Rufus Wainwright: Rufus Wainwright burst onto the Canadian pop scene in 1989 with his debut single, "I'm a Runnin'", at the tender age of 14. Since then, Wainwright has been hailed as an innovator in indie-pop and has gone on to release some of the new millennium's most harrowing work. Wainwright recently released, House of Rufus, in 2011 and has been on the road ever since in support of the album.

The New York native moved to Montreal, Canada as a kid. At 14, his single "I'm A Runnin", earned him a 1989 Genie Award for Best Original Song and he was nominated in 1990 for the Juno Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year. After a decade of developing his stage presence, he released his self-titled debut album in 1998 which was immediately hailed by Rolling Stone, as one of the best albums of the year. Rufus Wainwright tour dates were booked on Sean Lennon's national tour prior to a solo headlining tour.

Wainwright continued to record throughout the decade and scored his biggest commercial and critical successes in 2007. His album, Release the Stars, was an international smash album reaching #23 on the Billboard 200, and receiving Gold status in Canada and the UK. In addition, his live album, Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Rufus Wainwright has been an innovator on the alt-pop scene for over a decade now and his potential is limitless. Make sure to catch a date on the Rufus Wainwright concert schedule this 2011.
