Lyle Lovett: Alt-Country rocker, Lyle Lovett, has been a critical favorite since he debuted his unique blend of country-rock in the mid-80s. While he hasn't received the mainstream success of other country stars, he certainly has received the accolades that he deserves. During an era of formula driven country pop, Lovett stands out as a unique lonestar who carefully, but prolifically, releases album after album. The Grammy-Award winner is currently on the road to support his most recent effort, Natural Forces, which was released in 2009. The Texas native was born in Klein, a community named after his grandfather, and raised on a horse ranch. He attended Texas A&M University where he majored in German and developed an interest in songwriting. Ironically, Levitt discovered his passion for country music while on a study abroad tour in Rothenburg, Germany. It was in Europe, not Texas, where the budding singer-songwriter met local country musician Buffalo Wayne, who served as a major influence on his music. He returned stateside in the early '80s with a renewed vigor, European sensibilities, and the drive to become a performer. He recorded a demo and moved to Nashville where he scored a gig working with country starlet, Nanci Griffith, and her third album in 1983. He returned to aid Griffith again in 1985 and garnered attention from MCA Records who signed him to a recording contract the following year. Lovett released his critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in 1986. However, it was with his sophomore set, Pontiac, that he gained a widespread following. The album was certified Gold and he expanded his fan base with nationally scheduled tour dates.

Over the years, Lovett continued to release Gold certified hit albums. Lovett expanded his creativity into film as both a composer and an actor. He has appeared on several hit television shows including Mad About You, and most recently the hit ABC show, Castle, in 2010. Additionally, he has performed songs for hit films such as The Firm, Leap of Faith, and The Interpreter. Lovett released his third album, Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, in 1989; It was certified Gold and earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Country Male Vocal. Lovett continued to record throughout '90s and earned himself three more Grammy Awards and four more Gold records. Lyle Lovett tour dates were consistently scheduled throughout the years and he has maintained a vigorous concert schedule.

After a quarter-century in the recording industry Lovett can count six Gold albums, four Grammy Awards, ten albums, and millions of fans. His most recent album, Natural Forces, debuted at #8 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, a marker of his staying power. Lovett's path has been largely unique in the country music world where he recorded music outside the confines of country-pop and was able to find his niche amongst throngs of aspiring performers. Lovett has the longevity that most musicians can only pray for and he shows no signs of slowing down with his extensive concert schedule (2011).
